Seven Nights Out in Napa…..without breaking the bank

Everyone’s looking for a deal at the moment so here’s a deal for each night of the week to help you to lead the Napa life, but not have to take out a mortgage to pay for it.

Monday – Fume Bistro, Napa         $5 Burgers at the Bar only 4.30 – 9pm.

This North Napa institution has been creating great food for years now and under the watchful eye of Chef Terry Letson and GM Justin Graffigna they offer the best deal in the valley on a Monday night.

Tuesday – Hog Island Oysters, Oxbow Market, Napa     $1.25 Oysters 5 – 7pm

Tuesday night is local’s night at the Oxbow Market in Napa and the best deal in the whole place is the $1.25 Hog Island Oysters. It’s a different Oyster each week and they are great washed down with some bubbles.

Wednesday – Press Restaurant, St. Helena   $10 Blue Plate Special from 5.30pm until the food runs out, at the Bar only

It’s different every week but is always worth going to. It gets busy with lots of locals taking advantage of the great food at unbelievable prices. On top of this Wednesday is 50% (yes 50%) off the whole wine list and NO corkage charge.

Thursday - Carpe Diem Wine Bar, Second St., Napa (4-6pm)

Head back “down valley” tonight and sample the fayre at Napas not so new (even though it stills feels that way) Wine Bar. A favorite hangout of locals in the wine and hospitality industries you never know who you’ll bump into at the bar. From 4-6pm tonight (and every night) there are drinks specials and a selection of  “snacks” at great prices to choose from. DO NOT leave without having tried the fries. Did we say try the fires? Don’t forget to order some fries!!

Friday – Hurley’s Restaurant, Yountville – $28 Patio BBQ at Hurley’s from 4-6pm every Friday through the Summer

Bob Hurley has been plying his trade in the valley for more years than he cares to remember and yet seems to be eternally creating new dishes to compliment his old favorites. His latest creative venture is a first come, first served Friday afternoon BBQ (too early for dinner for some I accept) gathering on his wonderful patio. And a “by the way” that at Hurley’s there’s never any corkage with a la carte orders.

Saturday – Bank Bar at the Westin Verasa, Napa      $29 Three Course Regional Menu

So it’s Saturday night in Napa. Where do you go for a deal? The Bank Bar at the Westin Verasa offers a 3 Course themed menu every night of the week. And given the sumptuous surrounding of the Westin Saturday night is the night to take advantage of it.  Given that the food is cooked by the same chefs who cook food for the Michelin starred “la toque” restaurant it’s the best deal in town on Saturday (and every other night)

Sunday – Barbers Q, Bel Aire, Napa      $14.95 Fried Chicken Dinner with all the trimmings

Where I come from we go for a big roast dinner on a Sunday but the locals in Napa love their Fried Chicken Dinner and I can’t blame them. $14.95 gets you a serious amount of food, lovingly prepared and served in great surroundings. 4 pieces of Fulton Valley Farms free range chuck with mashed spuds, gravy and greens with collars on…
